This is very hard to prevent, the only real prevention is sticking with a stock stroke 3.00 inch crank, and thats no fun Picture 2 shows the cap walk/chatter on the main cap registers. Picture one shows 3 distinct cracks which start at the main bolt holes and run towards the cam tunnel, which then the cam bearings no longer have press on them and they literally fall out. These pictures serve as a painful reminder why you should invest in a DART block that 99.9999% of people can and never will break.īefore the question comes, NO a main girdle won't do anything to stop the block from breaking, save that 200-300 dollars and put it towards your DART block fund, and certainly those useless valley girdles are a total and utter waste of time and money, once you see the real cause of the break. We have all seen the blocks split clean in half, but these pictures are basically right before the volcano blows it's top off. Not a question, more of a public service announcement for alot of the guys who repeatedly ask what the down fall of a stock 302 block is and what happens when it breaks.
